Friends, Apples and Pumpkins

Monday, October 5, 2009

Lindsey and I had our first trip to Apple-Works with our good friends the Pendleton's.  It is an orchard about 40 minutes away.  We had a great time visiting the petting zoo, playing on the playground, playing in a wooden tractor, climbing a straw tower, playing "Cinderella" in a pumpkin house, picking out a pumpkin in the patch, and eating apples (one of Lindsey's most favorite foods).  The weather was absolutely beautiful and we were almost the only ones there.  It was a great day!

Lindsey loved the rope swings.  She didn't hesitate to jump on and give it a go...even though they don't look anything like a traditional swing.

Lindsey and Brooklyn on the wooden tractor.  The girls played on this for quite awhile.

So here we are in a pumpkin patch with 3 girls...a 3 year old, a 2 3/4 year old and a 1 year old.  Kenzie and Lindsey are definitely into Cinderella and other fairy tales right now in their lives.  You may recall that a pumpkin patch is key to the Cinderella storyline...so if you were there, you would have heard, "bibbidi, bobbidi, boo" as each girl twirled around her stick wand.  It was great!  Pure entertainment.

This was our first trip to a real pumpkin patch where we could pick our own pumpkin (we've always bought the pre-picked pumpkins in the past)...the one stipulation...Lindsey had to be able to carry it.  It now has a special place on our wooden box "coffee table" with a painted face on it.

The girls (Brooklyn, Lindsey and Kenzie)!  I completely gave up trying to get all three of them looking at the camera at the same time.  It just wasn't going to happen.  We had a great time together as friends, and that is what mattered in the end.
